DIRT CAR SANTA PARADE

TIS THE SEASON

EDMONTON, AB – The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series was a proud participant in several Santa Claus Parades the past few weeks.  “Our race season ended 11 weeks ago”, says NPP Series announcer Gord Craig, “but that does not mean we hibernate during the off season.”  Thousands of spectators in three Alberta communities lined the streets to view their annual night time parades.  “We were in Leduc on Friday, Devon on Saturday and Edson on Thursday.  I think there were a lot of people surprised to see a pace car in their Christmas parade.  It was a lot of fun.”

Fairly mild temperatures made for strong attendance numbers at each Santa Claus Parade.  “The parade routes in Devon and Leduc were primarily in the downtown core.”  Parade organizers in Edson had a different approach.  “After starting in the downtown area, the parade route switched to several residential streets.”  Edson’s parade kicked off the town’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
