Ryley’s racing career first started at a young age of 15, when he raced in a Street Stock at Williams Lake. The race was a good one he said, as he finished 2nd place in the main. After a few more years racing in the Street Stock division, Ryley moved into the ARCA Sportsman Series. Ryley had an amazing season, finishing 5th in points and was awarded Rookie of the Year. Even though Ryley had proven himself as a great up and coming racer, Ryley decided he needed to improve his racing talents and enrolled in a racing program called RACE 101 in North Carolina. Ryley was accepted in January 2010. The program was founded by Tony Blanchard, former developing coach of NASCAR star Joey Logano, who based his program not only around developing their racing skills, but also teaching them the fundamentals of car set-up. Ryley quickly started to prove to the instructors that he was the best of the best. The group of young racers each had a 20 lap race session with Tony, and Ryley was one of few who managed to never spin out and raced the car like he had done it before, unlike others who struggled in the session. After graduating top in his class in January 2011, Ryley said “It was a huge thing for me to do. The knowledge I gained and the people I met, as well as the experience that I had, can't be replaced. It really just opened my eyes to what professional racing is all about, being that I was minutes away from shops like Hendricks Motorsports and Redbull Racing. It's given me the little boost of experience, knowledge and confidence to say I know I can do this, just give me the chance. So I am glad that I was able to be part of the RACE 101 inaugural class of 2010.”
Even at a young age, Ryley has many racing highlights which are: never finishing lower than 5th place, being the only rookie to ever lead the ARCA Sportsman Series (which he led for three weekends) and also winning the ARCA Sportsman Series Rookie of the Year title.
The 2011 racing season for Ryley will see him compete in the ARCA OK Tire Sportsman Series and the West Coast Sportsman Series with the intention of winning both championships. If he can find adequate sponsorship, he would like to follow in his dad’s footsteps by hopefully racing some races in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
The future is looking very promising for this young star as he plans on becoming a dominant force in the racing industry.
