Murray Dyck is still proving today that he is a front runner in any class. Murray was born in Burnaby, B.C., has a son, Tyler, and for the past 17 years, Murray has been the owner and operator of Westar Trailers in Chilliwack. As a kid, Murray was interested in cars; whether it was watching racing or just looking at them. Murray’s dad started taking him to the stock car races at Langley, Penticton and Agassiz Speedways, and soon enough, Murray found himself behind the wheel a of Hobby Stock.

After 30 years of racing, Murray has acquired a very impressive list of titles that include; Hobby Stock Champion at Agassiz Speedway, Super Stock Champion at Langley Speedway, Canadian/American Late Model Champion and Molson International Pro Stock Rookie of the Year. Murray has also won Sportsman of the Year four times, all at various speedways.

I asked Murray about his favourite memories over the years, and he commented, “I have so many great racing memories over the years that it would be hard to pick any favourites, but I think that if I were to pick something that stands out, it would have to be all the many great people and friends I have met through racing over all the years”. Along with winning championship titles, setting new track records and driving for various car owners, Murray has raced throughout the U.S. Pacific Northwest and Western Canada to include Western Speedway, Saratoga Speedway, Motoplex Speedway (Vernon), Agassiz Speedway, Langley Speedway, Penticton Speedway and Thunder Mountain Speedway (Williams Lake).

The 2011 season will find Murray making a run at the inaugural ASA B.C. Late Model Tour Championship in his #72 Westar Trailer Chevy Impala SS, Canada's most beautiful race car.

Be sure to watch for this veteran racer this season.
