SEASON OPENER SET FOR EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY SATURDAY APRIL 2
MONROE, Wa — March 29, 2011): We can all ‘stop freakin’ about a long winter without racing. On Saturday April 2nd Beacon Plumbing presents the season opening race at Evergreen Speedway. The night features the fastest cars ever at the speedway the American Speed Association Northwest Sprint Car Racing Association (Winged Sprint Cars) and the northwest’s best late model stock racers assemble for the Trick Racing Series 100 and Race #1 of the Evergreen Speedway ‘Big West Series’ all on the monster 5/8-mile paved oval. Included in the pre-race happy hour from 4pm to 6pm will be special food and beverage prices and from 5pm to 6pm the famous US Army Field Band ‘The Volunteers’ will perform. Racing starts at 6pm the new time each Saturday during the 2011 season.
The ASA NSRA returns to the fastest and longest paved oval on their schedule. The track many call ‘almost too tough to tame’, the monster 5/8-mile over the many years, has given many a racer plenty to ponder about. Of any traveling series that comes to Evergreen Speedway the open wheeled winged sprint car drivers of the NSRA have proved to be the masters. Holding the all time speed record the ground pounding speed demons will vie to lower their qualifying times once again.
The new Trick Racing Series makes its season and speedway debut featuring, drivers that travel with the series plus many of the local super late model stock car racers, racing for 100-laps on the monster track. Some of the local drivers expected include defending Evergreen Speedway NASCAR Whelen All American Series Super Late Model champion Tom Moriarity (Monroe, WA), Evergreen Speedway feature winner and pastor of the ‘Rock Church’ Jeff Knight (Monroe, WA), former Tour driver Jason Fraser (Snohomish, WA), 2010 Richard Petty Drivers Search contestant Tyler Allen (Bellevue, WA), former Evergreen Speedway track champion Naima Lang (Lynnwood, WA), LMCS and Tour driver Mark Sundberg (Seattle, WA) and former South Sound Speedway and Yakima Speedway champion Kelly Mann (Monroe, WA).
The Beacon Plumbing Season Opener starts at the new time of 6pm. Back-gates will open at 11am for the race teams. The front- gates open at 4pm with happy hour food and beverage pricing. The much traveled US ARMY Field Band ‘The Volunteers’ perform from 5pm to 6pm. Tickets are $20 for Adults; $15 for Seniors (62+)/Juniors (13-17); $10 for Military; $5 for children (7-12) and Kids 6 & under are free.
