HARKNESS THREE IN A ROW IN SKAGIT SPORTSMAN SPRINTS

By Kelly Hart
Mark it down, Brandon Harkness is back. Harkness won his third straight Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprint race at ASA member track Skagit Speedway. Harkness led all 20 laps powering around Derek Roberts on the start and putting space between himself and Roberts with a lapped car late in the race for the win. Roberts, Cory Swatzina, Cale Brooke, Rob Schroder rounded out the top 3. The heat races were called due to rain.
It was the first time in winners circle for Tom Warner in the Outlaw Hornets. Warner led twice including the initial lap and retook the lead from Brian Michelson in heavy traffic with 5 laps left. Heat race wins were picked up by Freddy Vela and Matt “Super” Powers.
The Rolling Thunder Big Rigs made their debut at Skagit Speedway with Scott Zahn winning the fast heat and main event. John Nelson was the slow heat winner.
Skagit Speedway is off until July 30th when all four local classes return to point racing action.
