JASON WHITE STARTS STRONG IN SASKATOON

July 28, 2011.  Sun Peaks, British Columbia racer Jason White and the #21 A & W Dodge team were happy to be back on track at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for round number seven of the 2011 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series on Wednesday.  The fast 1/3 mile oval is a favourite for racers.

During practice the #21 A & W Dodge ran very well with White only having one minor issue.  “The car was just a bit tight off corner two but other than that felt really good” said White.

With a strong #21 A & W Dodge race car underneath him White would run his best qualifying lap of the season and start the 250 feature event in eighth spot.  “What a great lap” said an enthusiastic White.  “Dave Lynch told me to come out of corner four and get closer to the wall.  I did and it really paid off with that lap” he added.

As the race began White continued his solid day.  “The #21 A & W Dodge was running really well, I could go high or low on the track and the car felt great” he explained.  “I settled in to run a good consistent pace in the early going and be ready for the end of the race.

However fortunes for the #21 A & W Dodge team changed dramatically.  During a caution period White noticed the engine did not sound right and he had lost oil pressure.  “I told the crew on the radio and we hoped it was just a glitch but unfortunately it wasn’t” he stated.

Jason was forced to bring the #21 A & W Dodge to pit road and went several laps down while the team diagnosed the problem.  “It was some sort of electrical issue” explained the driver.  With the car still able to run I went back out and ran laps to try and pick up championship points, but it’s pretty disappointing knowing we had such a good car and a little like this got us” he stated.

Jason White and the #21 A & W Dodge will return to action the weekend of August 5-7 at the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres in Trois Rivieres, Quebec.
