MIXED RESULTS AT MIDSEASON FOR SHAYLEN RAYE MOTORSPORTS

(Lake Stevens, WA) 7/12/11 by Kelly Hart – Racinghartmedia
“At the end of a racing weekend it is good to roll both cars onto the trailer and know we gave it everything we’ve got. We would have liked to have swept the weekend in both divisions but it’s a feat no one has pulled off and we came awful close.” Those are the words of team owner Mike Anderson after the Shaylen Raye Motorsports team came off the track Saturday night.

Driver Travis Jacobson put both #18 cars in position to snag wins by winning both of the 360 and 410 scrambles in somewhat easy fashion to sit on the pole for the midseason championship main events at Skagit Speedway. That is when direction changed. After leading the first 5 laps of the 360 main the fuel pump stopped working and the car would not refire. In the 410 division, Travis led the first 20 laps before being passed for the lead to settle for second position.

Early in the season the plan was to do some limited travel and the next two weekends will see the Shaylen Raye Motorsports 360 Sprint car at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, WA on July 15th and 16th for the 5th Annual Fred Brownfield Memorial ASCS National Sprint Tour events. The second weekend July 22nd and 23rd they’ll be at the ASCS National Sprint Tour weekend doubleheader at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, OR.
