TROIS-RIVIERES, Que. (Aug. 6, 2011) – Andrew Ranger continued his winning ways at Circuit de Trois-Rivieres in Saturday’s NASCAR Canadian Tire Series qualifying by winning the Keystone Light Pole Award.
Ranger, out of Roxton Pond, Que., has won three consecutive races at the 1.530-mile temporary street course and laid down a track-record lap of 67.661 seconds which translates to an average lap speed of 81.406 mph in his No. 27 PNH Solutions/Lou’s BBQ Dodge. He broke the record of 68.291 seconds he set a year ago.
Ranger will be joined on the front row by points leader Scott Steckly, who posted a time of 67.917 seconds (81.101 mph) which also was below the previous record.
D.J. Kennington qualified third with a time of 68.711 seconds (80.162 mph) while local driver Louis-Philippe Dumoulin registered the fourth-fastest time of 68.750 seconds (80.116 mph). J.R. Fitzpatrick rounded out the top five qualifiers with a time of 68.760 seconds (80.105 mph).
Kerry Micks, Don Thomson Jr., Robin Buck, Mark Dilley and Jean-Francois Dumoulin made up the rest of the top-10 qualifiers.
The 33-car field is scheduled to take the green flag for the GP3R 100 on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
