SPRINTS AT SARATOGA

#15 Duane Zeinstra dominated the Wilroc Lite main event on Saturday. Zeinstra led all 30 laps of there main event, sponsored by Napa Auto Parts.

            The night started off strong in the Lite division; #52 Jesse Dardengo set a new track record in qualifying, setting a time of 14.557, beating the old record of 14.653 set by #55 Jeff Bird. #34 Paul Verhagen won the B dash, and #55 Jeff Bird dominated to win the A. Zeinstra started his winning ways in the heats, winning the B heat and the B reverse heat. Bird won the A heat, and #15s Mark Stuart won the reverse A heat. Zeinstra led the 14 car Lite field to green for the 30 lap feature race and ran away with it from there, spreading his lead to over half the track by the checkered flag. #28 Wayde Heckford battled his way into 2nd, #9 Lance Wade finished 3rd, and #52 Jesse Dardengo captured 4th.

            Mike and Jim Meeres dominated the Dwarf car division on Saturday, winning 4 out of 5 races on the night. #11 Mike Meeres set fast time once again in qualifying, setting a time of 15.541. #44 Bob Greenaway won the B dash, with the A dash going to #89 Jim Meeres, who was racing in his first race of the season. Jim dominated to win the heat, with the reverse heat win going to his son Mike. The 25 lap feature saw Mike battle his way to the front, eventually taking the lead on lap 6 and he never looked back from there, winning his 4th main event win of the year. #55 Don Banansky, who was also racing in his first race of the season finished 2nd, with 3rd going to #4 Sean Sanger, who battled back from a broken axial earlier in the night to compete in the main event.

             #8 Brad Purdy had his best night of the season on Saturday night in the I.M.C.A division. #44 Tim Openshaw set fast time in qualifying, setting a time of 15.353. Purdy started his winning ways in the Dash, leading every lap to take the win. Purdy than battled his way to the front in the heat to take the win. #32 Dano Bryant ended up taking the win in the reverse heat, winning his first heat of the season. Purdy started 3rd in the 20 lap main event, but found himself in the lead on lap 1. Purdy would lead from there, holding off #98 Pat Brown and #53 Kevin Noble to take the win.

            Extra Laps… Next week will feature 6 classes of cars at Saratoga Speedway. The Bomber cars, Hornet cars, Dwarf Cars, I.M.C.A Modifieds, Island Mini Stocks and the Motorcycles will on be on the card for next weekend. August 20th marks our 3rd annual Bikini Contest. We will also be hosting our 2nd Boat race of the year on the 20th, accompanied by the Hornet Cars, Crash to Pass cars, and the Roadrunners. These are two great events that you don’t want to miss.
