After two incredible days of Crash to Pass racing and some high flying Monster Truck excitement before big crowds the Black Oval returns to the need for as the IMCA Modides take to the track this Saturday night and they will be joined by the always competitive Bomber cars along with Hornet cars and the Motorcycles.
A big field of Crash to Pass cars bolstered by 5 Victoria crashers made for some heated moments
on and off the track. On Saturday night Black Creek’s Sheldon Hopp survived the
main event to take the win, while Sunday night saw “The General May take win in
a action filled race that saw 14 cars start the race and only 5 crossed the
finish line.
In Hornet cars the Cahill brothers took turns winning the A main event with
Daryn winning Saturday night and Daryl grabbing the win on Sunday night while B
main event winners over the weekend were MacLaran Inglis on Sunday in his newly
built Neon after Saturday night saw Jeremy Stormo dominate the field to take the
win. The Roadrunner class saw a couple new cars out Saturday night which
made for some competitive racing that saw main event wins for Ted Dimitrov
Saturday night then on Sunday night “Dangerous Dan Kemp” ran away from the field
to take the win.
This Saturday Courtenay’s Bart Smith is expected out to try for his
2nd straight Modifide main event after his opening day win and with
the number of cars almost ready and on the built this class could soon see 12-15
each race night. Travis Stevenson’s car with Stewart Lee behind the wheel
captured the opening day Bomber car main event and sits 23 points up on Port
Albernie’s Gilles Cyr follwed by Bobby Cyr 44 back and Darren ’Bam Bam’ Larson
51 points a rear.
The Cahill brothers will be out to make it three main events in row on
Saturday however right on their bumpers waiting for their 1st main
event wins are the fast brother/sister combo of Kevin and Jennifer
Lawrenuk. Heading into Saturday’s action Daryn heads in
1st in points 77 ahead of Brandon Phillips followed by Jennifer
Lawernuk 119 back while brother Kevin defending point champion is 173 back after
missing opening with car problems and in the B class after his Sunday main
event win MacLaran Inglis in the point leader 27 up on Norm McLean and 31 ahead
of Brianne Fenn.
Racing every Saturday night has gates open at 5.30 followed by qualifying at 6
with racing under the lights at 7pm. New this season at the Speedway as
with the removal of the old grand stands on turn four the Speedway has created
a beautiful place to bring out your favourite lawn chair and enjoy the
best entertainment you will get sitting down.
