Peninsula Co-op & Coca-Cola Partner with Western Speedway
Western Speedway is proud to announce a new partnership with Peninsula Co-op and Coca-Cola to become the title sponsor for the running of the 35th annual Canada 200 on August 30 & 31. One of the oldest and most prestigious races in Canada will now be called the Peninsula Co-op Coca-Cola Reg Midgley Canada 200.
Speedway management are very excited about Peninsula Co-op and Coca-Cola coming on board to partner in the Canada 200, with the additional marketing power of these two companies the 200 should be one of the premier events held at Western Speedway in 2013.
The Canada 200 was the brainchild of longtime Victoria promoter Reg Midgley and was first run in 1972. The inaugural race was won by Victoria Auto Racing Hall of Fame Member Ross Surgenor, notable past winners include fellow Victoria drivers Gary Kershaw, Roy Smith, Roy Haslam, Rockie Collins, Darrell Midgley and Duncan’s Don Smith. American drivers to win the 200 include the legendary NASCAR driver Hershel McGriff, NASCAR Northwest Tour champions Monty English and Bob Fox.
Last year’s Canada 200 winner Dave Hemrich from Vancouver will be back to defend his title along with the best Late Model drivers in Western Canada.
