The Keg Steakhouse & Bar Late Model Series Gears Up for 2013

Late Model Teams and fans on Vancouver Island and the Mainland are a buzz as The Keg Steakhouse & Bar Late Model Drivers Challenge Series gears up for season number two at Western Speedway. Early indications show sixteen teams have ordered tires for the 2013 season, with the first race seven weeks away, Speedway and Series officials expect between 18 to 20 cars at the first event.

Series spokesman Steve Copp is excited at the prospect of the upcoming season, and is in awe at how the series has grown in less than two years. Copp is the first to point out that the rebirth of the Late Model program can be attributed to the hard work of the Series Organizers, Sponsors, Western Speedway and the Late Model teams. Without their help and support this would not be possible, couple that with solid rules package that has seen no changes in the past two years, as well as a grass roots formula that sees no membership, registration fees or entry fees is why Copp feels the program has taken off so well.

The Series will run five events in 2013, May 18th, June 22nd, July 20th and Championship Night on September 21st, and something new for 2013, the Peninsula CO-OP/Coca-Cola Reg Midgley Canada 200 on August 30th & 31st will be part of the series.

In 2013 the Series will pay out between $26,000 to $28,000 including a$10,000 points fund, That will be divided up equally between the top ten in points, with each driver taking home $1,000. To be eligible for the point’s fund, drivers must compete in all five race night events.

The race format will once again consist of group qualifying, heat races and main events.
