Wilcox Tapped As Canadian Tire Series Technical Director

Championship Crew Chief Moves Into New Role

Daytona beach, Fla. (Feb. 15, 2011) — NASCAR announced today that Jeff Wilcox has been named as the Technical Director for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” said Wilcox. “To work within the professionalism of NASCAR and have the chance to learn from and share knowledge with the best people in all of motorsports is a tremendous thrill. I’m sure there will be challenges along the way, but I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Wilcox, 45, grew up around the race track while his father was a competitor at Delaware (Ont.) Speedway. He began working at the track as a youngster before trying his hand behind the wheel of an Enduro car at Delaware.

In 1988, he joined the crew for Billy Rowse Jr. as he competed at both Delaware and in the former CASCAR series. After some time away from the sport, he hooked up again with Rowse and Dave Whitlock at Whitlock Motorsports as a mechanic. Wilcox became car chief for Whitlock’s efforts in CASCAR and was elevated to crew chief for the 1998 season.

Whitlock and Wilcox went on to win the CASCAR Super Series national championship that season and followed it up with another title in 1999. For the 2000 and 2001 seasons, he served as crew chief for current Canadian Tire Series competitor Mark Dilley in CASCAR.

In 2005, he moved into the officiating side of the sport when he was named as Race Director at Delaware Speedway; a role he held through the end of the 2010 season.

A licensed auto mechanic and active member of the Canadian Armed Forced Army Reserve, Wilcox resides in Thedford, Ont., with his wife, Sharri, and their two daughters.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series kicks off the 2011 season on Saturday, May 28 at Mosport Speedway in Bowmanville, Ont.
