7/23/11 - The 28th annual Clay Cup Nationals finished off Saturday night at Deming Speedway with one young man scoring the biggest win of his career and a veteran racer pulling in his 5th Clay Cup win.
In the 600 division, Fresno California native Michael Faccinto picked up the biggest victory of his relatively short open wheel career, picking up a cool $7,500 by winning the A Feature at Saturday night’s Clay Cup. Faccinto led every lap in his #15 Pace, running all 40 laps with little challenge from a loaded field. Brock Lemley finished off his Clay Cup weekend with a second place finish in the #10 PMP. Eight time Clay Cup champion Stan Yockey came from ninth place to pick up third in the #7 PMP. Faccinto also pocketed $250 from Duinkerken Farms after winning the match race. Joe Constance won the D Main. Kiwi Alexander won the C. Landon Hurst topped the B Main.
Brock Lemley picked up his 5th Clay Cup win in the past eight years with a wire to wire 40 lap feature win in the 1200 division, pocketing $5,000 for his efforts in his #10 DLH. Liam Ryan finished off a fantastic weekend with a second place in his #87 Henchcraft. Liam also won $250 for winning the match race, courtesy Duinkerken Farms. Aaron Fell fell back to 5th early but worked his way back forward for a third place finish in the #15 XXX.
Record crowds and internet listenership made for an incredibly successful weekend at Deming Speedway. The track staff and management would like to thank the fans, racers and crews who worked so hard to make Clay Cup 2011 so enjoyable!
