WINNERS AT SKAGIT SPEEDWAY ON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE NIGHT

(Alger, WA) - The warmest night of the evening greeted racers in all 4 divisions on Chamber of Commerce Night at ASA Member track Skagit Speedway. Barry Martinez in the 410 Sprints, Travis Jacobson in the 360 Sprints, Justin Youngquist in the Sportsman Sprints and Freddy Vela in the Outlaw Hornets won the Main Events.
 
On a big, wide and very fast race track witgh drivers just inches off the fence and clear down to the apron Martinez flew past Josh DeWitt for the lead on the tenth circuit and then held off fast charging DeWitt, Eric Fisher and Colton Heath for his first win of the 2011 season. Martinez and Jason Solwold won the heat races with Fisher setting fast time at 11.544 seconds.
 
Travis Jacobson picked up the win when early race leader Devin Madonia broke a watts link on the 8th lap of the Budweiser  360 Main event. Jacobson was untouchable the rest of the way with great battles behind him featuring Mack Brown, Logan Forler and Rod Perkins. Perkins and Alan Munn won the heat races and Edmonton, AB racer David Miller was fast time at 12.249.
 
In the Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprint races Justin Youngqust pulled off the sweep with both heat race and Main event wins. Youngquist overtook Derek Roberts as Roberts motor was going away leading the last two laps after dogging him for a dozen more for the top spot. The other heat race wins went to Bill Rude and Roberts.
 
Freddy Vela continues to dominate the Outlaw Hornet division leading all 17 laps of the Main event. Ben Gunderson and Matt “Super” Powers were the heat race winners.
 
Next week is the Bob’s Burgers and Brew 360 Nationals at Skagit Speedway. Teams will be competing for the $10,000.00 first place prize. The event is August 5th and 6th. Racing starts at 7pm both nights.
